It’s time we cleared the air about ham radio. If you think of it as staticy transmissions sent by people in the middle of nowhere, think again. Today’s ham radio goes beyond wireless to extreme wireless, Operators transmit data and pictures, use the Internet, laser, and microwave transmitters, and travel to places high and low to make contact. In an emergency or natural disaster, ham radio can replace downed traditional communication and save lives. Whether you’re just getting turned on to ham radio
or already have your license
Hi Everybody,
My name is John (kb9sxh) from Milwaukee, Wi. I am very involved with the North American Hand shakers Net on IRLP Node 9250 @ 0200z every Tuesday night it’s a trivia net. Come and join us see if you can stump Net Control. I have also appeared on the cover of the June 2004 QST Magazine...In the cover shot I am working the 2mtr ssb station for the Lefrog (Local Emergency Field Radio Operating Group) field-day site in Port Washington, wis. I Enjoy working field day, promoting the hobby with the youth of today With JOTA...I have been a ham for 12years and a General class operator for six of them. I am out on Hf now I have made it to Japan and the Czech Republic. I also have 48 of the 50 states going to the WAS award. Right now I am working on my Extra class. I also use to help out on two meter teaching code and I am always ready to help anybody learn more or put up an antenna. I try to be a good source of knowledge and I will even help another ham get to a radio meeting. I’ve been called the friendly one and I also try to be the helpful one. I am a firm believer in Hams Helping Hams, because isn't that what this hobby is all about? Keep the service alive and use all the air space you can. "Use It or Lose It". Looking forward to another great year, Hope to hear you on the air..

The Radio Amateur is:
LOYAL...offers loyalty, encouragement and support to other amateurs, local clubs, and the American Radio Relay League, through which Amateur Radio in the United States is represented nationally and internationally.
PROGRESSIVE...with knowledge abreast of science, a well-built and efficient station and operation above reproach.
FRIENDLY...slow and patient operating when requested; friendly advice and counsel to the beginner; kindly assistance, cooperation and consideration for the interests of others. These are the hallmarks of the amateur spirit.
BALANCED...radio is an avocation, never interfering with duties owed to family, job, school or community.
PATRIOTIC...station and skill always ready for service to country and community.
To me one of the greatest things another Ham can do is help some other ham. If he can’t climb his tower anymore ask if you can help. If someone is in a wheelchair or has a hard time walking, ask if you can drive them to a meeting or a food gathering. If you can Elmer a person or teach them what they need to know to be a ham or a better ham, Ask if you can help. Always try to help others. That’s what I call
“Hams Helping Hams”
